Dreams Within Dreams

Dreams Within Dreams. A collection of short stories written during covid lockdown. Thirteen stories chosen to be bound together forever., fellow travelers on a magical journey. Only the point of departure is known — the harbor of my heart. The destination remains unknown — let the readers decide. A journey both difficult and exhilarating. A dive into uncharted waters.

Dreams are the central protagonist in every story. At times they awaken the characters, pulling them out of the lethargy in which they live; at other times they condemn them — life's opportunities wasted. The writing is minimalist, almost bare, seeking to illuminate the essence of each story. The tone is dark, sometimes dystopian. Yet the hope of awakening is never absent — a faint light struggling to grow. Existential questions and anxieties pulse throughout. Somewhere in the middle of life, a haunting question rises to trouble our dreams…

The characters have no names — they could be any one of us. Subdued figures sinking into the routine of survival, abandoning their dreams one by one. But survival is not enough. A dream, a nightmare, a vision arrives to remind them — offering a second chance or a tragic end.

A mother seeking vengeance through blazing flames; a couple resisting a dystopian future; a road trip of two young people searching for redemption; a spiritual journey to the East; a girl with copper hair who becomes a source of inspiration; a life lost in the whirlpool of illness; mediocrity put on trial in an imaginary courtroom; a forest that feeds on memories…

What is this collection to me? A way of communicating — first and foremost with myself. A way of expressing thoughts, concerns, and existential reflections. A hand reaching out to touch another human being. A need to share stories with the world, snapshots from my travels, and images from the dive I attempt within. And a window thrown wide open, letting in fresh air, offering a new perspective on my life. In the end, it seems to be a Dream Within the Dream we call life. And if I could carve a phrase on the bow of the ship now ready to sail with its thirteen passengers, it would be:

"We live as much life as we dare to live."
